Diwali Celebration
Today, we celebrated Diwali secara besar-besaran at Hiroshima Hostel! It was really crowded.. not many people i know there..mujurlah i’m still new to Volgograd. Yesterday(eve), after Nicole,Ren Geng, Sayleni and I cooked the chicken soup which was so tasty, i was asked by Radhika Akka to help her with the decoration. Radhika is in 2nd year. She is a very tradisional and very nice girl. Well, Sayleni and I were in Radhika’s room helpin her out and later Dev( my good fren here) also joined us. While doing the decoration, we chatted and had lots of fun there. After completing our jobs, Sayleni and Dev followed me to my room and we continue chatting till nearly 1 am. Dev was too kind to teach us free Russian lessons.. haha.. Thanks DEV!!!!
Today morning at 9am, Theenesh came and woke me up! i had to cook rice! he didnt tell us earlier that we have to cook the rice and thats why i overslept! i had to go to 7th floor to cook the rice. well, we cooked till 1pm. the first round of our cooking wasnt successful because the rice didn’t cook well..now, i realize that it is not easy to cook rice as one has to be careful with the proper measurement of rice and water. However, after we increased the amount of water, the rice turned up well.. i learned something new today!!
It was 1pm and i had to rush because i have to sing a devotional song at 1.30pm during the prayers. At 1.30 pm, i went down to the hall, but then no one was there. Only then i gotta know that they change the time to 2pm.. haih.. Indian timing is always not accurate!! Actually, i was so worried of the song that i’m gonna sing later . This is due to lack of practice. Usually, i practise before singing. But i cant do that in my room as it will be a disturbance. Thus, i told myself that whatever it is i’m just gonna ‘ hentam’.. i dont care if they are gonna say that i sang " sumbang"..
At 2pm, they started the prayer. Radhika sang the first song. Wow, she is really good. Her voice is so sweet.. this gave me extra pressure because if i don’t do well, people will have a bad impression on me.. and i was so nervous as there were so many people during the prayers. After Radhika sang, it was my turn.. I just sang sekadar yang mampu. But after singing, to my surprise many came to congratulate me. They said that they were mesmerized by my song. wow.. it’s really unbeliavable as i didn’t prepare well.. but I just thank God for blessing me and letting me to perform well.. i saved the day!!!
The food was good.. we had mutton, chicken, vegetables, dalcha, payasam and ladhu. Overall, it was really gempaq. Many malay and chinese students came in indian costumes.. wow.. the semangat perpaduan here memang kukuh.. Some seniors danced after the makan and practically that was the spotlight of the day. later, we had some photo taking session.. and finally i came to my room to chat with my parents via MSN..
It’s indeed a tiring day.. i wanna rest after this.. but i have to complete my russian homework. So, i shall end here.. will write again when i’m free.. da svi dan nya…
