Life In Volgograd

Zdrastvutye!!! ( Hello in Russian)

Volgograd is a metropolitan city. It is situated 900km from Moscow. It is  approximately 1 hour journey by flight. As i mentioned earlier, Volgograd is a very beautiful city( in russian they say krasivih gorad). Volgograd is formally known as Stalingrad. It is a very conducive place to study.. very quiet, peaceful, and the weather is just perfect( i wonder if i will be saying this during winter)..haha..

We are staying at Medical Hostel 4.. but it is known as Hostel Hiroshima.. there is another hostel whereby Malaysians stay. It is known as Kim Hostel. There are 10 floors here. The people here are very nice. I’m repeating this for so many times.. the reason is because the seniors here really take care of us. I bet it is difficult to find such seniors in other places. They are very very helpful and kind. They even cooked for us, brought us out for shopping and makan.. and they always care bout us much. really touched.. thanks Poh, Dev, Chai, Chong, Kok Tong, Lattish, Theenesh, Asyraf, Helmi, Jeremy, Kah Wei and the others.. i cant mention everyone here because there are so many people who have helped me and my fellow JPA friends.

Well, here.. we have to cook daily. Russians usually don’t take their lunch. So, we also dont take lunch practically. However, we do eat pirazhok or bulochka ( pie and buns respectively) for lunch. But for dinner, we have to cook!!! And that’s the WORST part. i’m not good at cooking. infact, i never learned cooking before. But before coming to Russia, i did copy some recipes from my mum. Actually, i thought that we dont have to cook daily..but when I came here, i got a shock of my life when i saw everyone cooking.. and guess what? they cook like professionals.. so, at the beginning, i cook when there is no one cooking. initially, i was not confident in cooking.. but after two or three times of cooking, i gained my confidence in cooking.. now i realize that cooking is all about creativity and your own ideas.. simple actually..so, for those of you guys who have not tried cooking, you may try as u will really enjoy cooking.

My university is known as Volgograd State Medical University. They have the main building and another campus is at Morph( i guess this is the spelling).. now, we will be studying only chemistry and intensive russian. Our russian teachers are very nice.. they are Olga Petrovna and Zoya Federovna. My chemistry lecturer is Lisina while my chemistry teacher is Yelena Alexander. To be honest, our teachers( pripadavatyel) are very nice and helpful. I wonder if Malaysian teachers are dedicated as them. Salute them!!! Learning russian is not as easy as u may think. There are 6 cases( grammar) that you must know and there are so many rules for the language. Seriously, if you really wanna master the language, you must work hard.. only then your teacher will compliment you by saying " ochen kharosho" or " malatsi"… our curator is Valentina.

Talking bout my classmates.. what can I say? THEY are very  very nice.. ochen kharosho!!!!! we really have fun in the class! there are 7 of us in my class.. they are Nicole, Nadzrul, Faiz, Syazana, Aqeelah and Masayu. I’m really happy to be in this group. Memang Hapeening… Nicole is my best friend ( in russian friends are known as padruga or drug) here in Volgograd. We talk a lot and laugh a lot. Sometimes people may think we are MAD… hahaha.. I know that we are facing some problems currently. BUT Nicole.. You are always my good fren.. Dont worry.. Nadzrul, Faiz and me will walk to the bus stop almost daily. they are really interesting frens and very understanding.. really glad to be with them. We help each other and joke a lot!!

OH.. i forget to mention about my room. i really like my room. though it is not very big, the room is just nice! Ren Geng( in russian it is X-rAY) is my roomate.. hey..dont get angry ok? haha.. he is also very nice and understanding. I must thank god for giving such a nice roomate..

to my family back in msia, i really miss them so much. We do chat quite often via MSN… but i know my responsibilities here.. i will definitely work hard and become a successful and good doctor!!!! i promise…

well, i think that’s all for now.. there are lots to write..but i think i will stop here.. da svi dan nya!!!!!!
